Our story is as old time itself, perhaps older. Two brothers - maybe twins - in an epic ongoing battle to maintain power: the Oak King rules Late Spring and Summer while the Holly king rules late Fall and Winter, and every time One is reborn, he grows in strength until such time as he can defeat his brother in battle to reclaim the throne. Having been freshly reborn does not stop him from trying. He knows what he must do.
It is always important to remember that there is no villain in their story - only a balance to be struck.
Many years ago, his Majesty hosted a ball such as this. There were people from all over the kingdom dressed in their finest, from those dressed in their best pants and shirts to those adorned with bejeweled gowns. All adults were welcomed, but the children were left at home with their nannies, tucked safely in bed. And it was a good thing, too, for the newly reborn Oak King was doing what he does by nature: trying to best his brother.
At this particular ball, the Oak King provoked his brother so harshly that fighting broke out amongst all the knights of the kingdom, and the evening turned sour, the decorations ruined, and the knights at odds.
The Kings decided then that there would be no more fighting at celebration events, and since that time, there has been peace at all their gatherings.
The terms of their peace did not include a moratorium on Mischief, however, and you can bet on her sly face to make an appearance.
Nonetheless, a good time shall be had by all!
The festivities begin at 7 PM and the evening concludes at 11 PM - so you can be home safe before the witching hour!
Join in the festivities!
